ARCS Foundation, Inc. provides fellowships to PhD and MD/PhD scholars in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM). It’s mission: advancing science in America has inspired our chapter for 40 years. The Seattle Chapter, a group of 100 dedicated women, has given over $18 million in fellowships to the University of Washington and Washington State University since 1978. These fellowships enable our state’s premier research universities to recruit and attract some of our nation’s most talented doctoral students, who in turn attract major grants and world-class faculty. The many ARCS Fellows who settle in Washington continue to play important roles in academia and the workforce, thus fueling our local and statewide economy.
In addition to our financial support, the Seattle Chapter ARCS women mentor our Fellows. Many of these students have expressed that our interest in them and passion for learning about their research has given them the freedom and confidence to tackle some of the most critical problems facing our planet, such as climate change, global health issues – both human and animal, and sustainable agriculture. We believe their scientific research could hold the key to ground breaking discoveries that can change the future and keep Washington in the fore-front of global technological and scientific innovation.
We are thrilled to support these young scientists. Thank you for visiting our website. Please learn more about how you can join us in our mission to advance science in America and experience the thrill of witnessing these outstanding students achieve great things.
